  • 6:50 -  Class Session

  • 7:50 -  Break

  • 8:00 -  Discussion/Bible Study Session

  • 9:00- Dismissal

Personal Expectations

  • Attendance

    • In Person or Online

      • Attendance and participation are mandatory.  Absences should be kept to a minimum.

      • Absence for any reason does not negate the need for the student to complete all reading and coursework for structured classes and discussions.

      • Missed classes/discussions can be reviewed, but for participation purposes a written response or summary may be assigned as makeup work.

    • Offline

      • Students unable to attend either in person or online on a regular basis will work with their Mentor and GSOM Staff to complete alternate assignments to go along with recorded classes and discussions. This is not an ideal option, as the fellowship, friendship, and support that comes with participation will be unavailable, an alternate certification for offline participants will be available for those who are unable to attend otherwise.

  • Church Participation

    • Ministry is a commitment, and requires an understanding of the need for an active church life.  This is important for personal growth, for service, for leadership within the body, etc.  Regular church attendance should not be a question in any Christian’s life let alone those that are accepting a call into ministry.  If an issue is seen in this area it will be immediately addressed in mentoring.

  • Membership

    • Church Membership is important, as a structure for the local body, and as an outward sign of a commitment to that local and corporate body.

  • Life

    • Students must conduct themselves in a manner that reflects the work of God in their lives.  No one is perfect, and grace should be extended, but that does not negate God’s call for us as Christians to live Holy.  (1 Tim 3)

  • Family participation/commitment.

    • If a Student is Married/Engaged, we encourage their spouse to join them in GSOM participation.  Whether they fully participate in the program themselves or not, their support of the student and his/her ministry is important and the spouse  should be included at least during a portion of the mentoring, including but not limited to the initial interview.

Mentoring

  • GSOM internship strategy enables students to confirm God’s call, develop the Christ like character, gain the competencies of ethical and effective ministry and develop the personal disciplines essential to successful life and ministry.

  • The strategy uses guided “hands on” ministry experiences, interaction with qualified pastors/mentors, reading and the exercise of personal spiritual disciplines to accomplish its mission.

  • Mentoring is a relationship, time commitment will depend on individual needs.  The Practical Ministry Objectives will be a starting point, but other assignments, activities and opportunities may be added at the mentor’s discretion.

Class Sessions

  • Class sessions will be more formal instructor lead courses.  There may be assigned reading, homework, or other preparation required to be done to prepare for each session, and students are expected to arrive on time and prepared for class both physically and mentally.  Bring your Bible, class materials, note-taking supplies and an attitude ready to learn!

Discussion Sessions

  • Discussion sessions will be less formal, and open more to discussion within the group.  These will be lead/moderated by an instructor who will guide the conversation, help to keep things on topic and productive.
